About us

VORN’s story began in 2009 in Trondheim, Norway, where founder Eirik Andersen, a mechanical engineering student, spent his weekdays studying and his weekends out hunting. It was during a hunt for capercaillie while on skies VORN’s patented Quick Release Rifle (QRR) system took shape.

Frustrated with the traditional rifle slings and the lack of rifle accessibility offered by existing rifle backpacks, Andersen was compelled to create a solution. He crafted the first prototype in his university’s machine shop. With an aluminum frame, a roughly stitched bag and a release mechanism made of bicycle parts the first VORN backpack was born. The day after the prototype was on its first hunt, it was immediately scrutinized and disassembled when he got back home. It did work exactly like planned, but it could be better.

Since that day the “hunt for better” has been ongoing, and at the core of how we do things at VORN. Every single detail matters, and we are not finished until we have explored all possibilities. This takes time, but the goal is simple – to create products that endure, inspire, and address specific needs.
